7th Report in 2010: Several Key Issues to be Resolved in the Development of Vaccine Industry in China

Abstract: As an economic, effective, safe, and convenient way to prevent diseases, vaccine is regarded as a major driving force that promotes pharmaceutical market development in the future. Development of vaccine industry in China is seriously restricted by weak strength in vaccine R&D and insufficient competitiveness of vaccine enterprises to meet the increasing demand for vaccines because of growth in the living standard and promulgation of new policies in medical reform. Based on analysis of the current situations and major issues in vaccine industry development in China, the article proposes several recommendations like enhancing governments’ role in new vaccine R&D, changing vaccine R&D strategies, and differentiated pricing of vaccines.
