On the morning of March 22, President Hu Zhijian met with the delegation of the China Institute of the University of Alberta led by Director Gordon Houlden and Deputy Director Wang Jia.

Director Gordon Houlden introduced the achievements of the China Institute of the University of Alberta in promoting science and technology, education, and cultural exchanges between the two countries. He applauded China’s achievements of scientific and technological innovation and expressed the hope to conduct in-depth cooperation with the Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development. President Hu Zhijian introduced the direction and focus of the reform of China’s science and technology management system in the recent period, explained in detail the background of major science and technology innovation policies and specific measures, and expressed the willingness to establish a cooperative relationship with the China Institute of the University of Alberta on the strategic research of scientific and technological innovation, deepen cooperative research by jointly organizing seminars and mutual personnel visits, and establish a China-Canada research cooperation platform on science, technology and innovation policies to promote common development.
