TheNational Innovation Index Report has been published annually since 2011. The NationalInnovation Index Report 2018 is the 8th release. This report is basedon an indicator matrix comprising five pillars, i.e. innovation resources, knowledge creation,enterprise innovation, innovation performance, and innovation environment. It usesthe commonly adopted benchmarking methodworldwide to calculate the national innovation index of 40 countries, whose combined R&D expenditure accounts for more than 95%of the world’s total.All data are obtained from databasesand publications of governments or international organizations and are internationallycomparable and authoritative.
